Bedroom redecorating for nerds?

Jack

I'm a thirteen year old boy with a very kiddish bedroom and want to redecorate it.As you probably assumed by the title, I am a huge geek. I am into things like Star Wars, RPGs, and chess. If you have any ideas of how I can make my bedroom represent myself more and not seem like its for a six year old?

Answer
bedding = pixels:

for fun = wall:

chess set:

end table for chess set:
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80213309/ (round)
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40104270/#/20011408 (square)
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10198411/#/90198412 (square with casters)

A matched pair of either gamer chairs or beanbags so that you have seating for an RPG session or chess match (sorry no link - running out of room, lol). Maybe an area rug (round or square). If you like the pixels bedding because the pattern of squares is reminiscent of the chessboard and you want to continue the theme, then have your table/nightstand and rug be squares. If you need additional accessories for your room, keep your eye out for what you need in square shapes. If you think you might start to feel "boxed in" (sorry, couldn't resist the pun!) with all squares, then throw something round into the mix to break up the monotony.

wall color:
Take one from the bedding. Since you are a guy, I'd suggest the grey. If you are
feeling really adventurous, do a shade of grey on three of the walls and use the dark teal for an accent wall.

Have fun with it & I hope that these helped!

why are so many of the greatest ships sold for scrap?

Jay

doesn't that make you sad? Like the Lord nelson one of the greatest pre dreadnaughts, the original hms dreadnaught, queen Elizabeth class?

and one that really struck me. USS California one of the ships sunk at pearl harbor, rugs rose it, repaired it enough to sail on its own to a dry dock in america to spend over a year totally rebuilding it to be decommissioned in 1944 to fight. then around 10 years later, scrapped. what was the point in rebuilding it in the first place?

Seems to be a ship that went though that should have a better fate than to be scrap, dont you think?
I mean tug boats lifted USS california off the bottom, repaired it so it could sail to a dry dock in america. It spent over a year in a dry dock totally being rebuilt so it could be Recommissioned in 1944. I think it was decommissioned in 1946 or 47
well I dont know. Why didnt the state of california buy the USS California? Like the state of texas bought the battleship USS Texas

Answer
Well the other option is the Sinkex (live fire target). Many have met that fate as well.......
Right now there are a backlog of ships that need scrapping. Big ships are hare to keep as muesums. I live in Philadelphia & have a front row seat to the problem. The USS Olympia is the only survivor of the Spanish American War. For decades the care or her has been hit and miss. Things got bad when the USS New Jersey was ported across the River in Camden. Result? The Battleship stole visitors from the Olympia. Add in a embezzlement scandal & You have a ship that needs Drydocking NOW. The hull is getting leaks. Without help, She may be sold...... The Texas, Intrepid, & Yorktown have all needed pricey Dry docking & lack state support dollars. The California was just seen as a another ship in mothballs that was crammed full of ships. Funds for defense got cut after the war. It cost too much to keep them all. Another Pearl Harbor Veteran The USS Pennsylvania fought the gun duel at Suriago Straight & had 8 battle stars. More important, She was the sister ship to the USS Arizona. Her fate? Sunk in 1948 after surviving a nuclear test in 1946 .
